Who We Are

The purpose of Beacon Int’l Baptist Mission (BIBM) is to serve local churches and their missionaries as they endeavor to reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and plant local, independent, indigenous, autonomous, Baptist churches.

Founded by Dr. Jerry Mullendore in 1995 as Evangelization in Eastern Europe (EEE), and expanded in 2006 to serve missionaries world-wide, BIBM is now lead by Missionary Adam Crabtree and continues to work in the Balkans and in many other fields across the globe today.

BIBM does not replace the role of the sending church or the sending pastor. The local church is the sole authority to ordain, commission, guide, and discipline. Simply put, BIBM exists to serve both the local church and their missionary. Whether the need is to process financial support, to build, to remodel, to host a youth camp, to host a Bible conference or a Bible institute, or to provide continuous missionary care, BIBM is here to serve.

What is BIBM?

BIBM serves as the LINK between the local church, the missionary, and the mission field. Jesus commissioned the local church to “go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15)”. BIBM bridges the gap between the local church, their missionary, and the mission field. When a missionary family and their local church partner with BIBM, they are properly prepared for deputation, relocating to their mission field, language study, cultural adaptation, evangelism, discipleship, planting churches, and training the next generation for ministry so the work continues in perpetuity. In addition, our office helps with all the details for a successful furlough.

In this busy day, it is difficult for pastors to maintain an adequate system of fiscal and ministerial accountability with their missionaries serving on the foreign field. It is even more difficult for that pastor to stay current in the affairs of local governments overseas. BIBM serves as the vital LINK that connects churches, pastors, and missionaries during times of turmoil.

BIBM operates under the authority of Eastside Baptist Church, located in Greeneville, Tennessee. Dr. Jerry Mullendore planted and pastored this church before answering the call to full-time missionary work. Pastor David Fox has served this growing church since June 2001. For more information about Eastside Baptist Church, please visit their website: EastSideBaptist.info.

Why BIBM?

BIBM is built on the biblical model of missions and provides the assistance that every church, pastor, and missionary family needs to stay connected and accountable.

  1. Financial: BIBM has an office located in Johnson City, Tennessee. The office, named the Mullendore Missions Headquarters, provides extensive benefits to the church and missionary family. BIBM has a system to track monthly financial support, provide monthly financial statements of church giving, pay expenses while the missionary is on the field or on deputation, and transfer funds to the missionary for both projects and living expenses. This is done while maintaining proper financial records to pay taxes for the missionary family, and report all missionary earnings to the IRS. BIBM provides the church and the missionary with the greatest potential for good stewardship with the Lord’s provision.
  2. Ministry: The Executive Director, Missionary Adam Crabtree, maintains constant contact with the BIBM missionary families. His vision is to see every pastor involved in the church planting work of his missionary and for the fruit of the missionary’s labor to be a shared with his sending church. BIBM does not replace the role of the sending pastor or the authority of the sending church. All matters of ministry including direction and discipline are matters that are reserved for the local church to handle. The director is able to help the pastor and the missionary. With his years of experience, both domestic and abroad, he is a valuable resource. BIBM reserves the right to part fellowship with a missionary who is in violation of the policies and procedures or ceases to be in agreement doctrinally with this ministry.
  3. Government: BIBM takes the financial burden from the local church. The office staff provides proper accountability for funds given. BIBM stays informed of the local news from around the globe to better serve the missionary family. The director and his family served in Greece during a volatile time and he understands the importance of maintaining contact during uncertain times. Safety is a primary concern with BIBM. There can be complications with wire transfers, exchange rates, residency/missionary visas, missions trips, furloughs, and shipping ministry supplies. The BIBM office has extensive knowledge and experience that can help each missionary family, no matter their field of service.

Brief History (1995-Present)

BIBM is an expansion of Evangelization in Eastern Europe, which was founded in 1995 by Dr. Jerry Mullendore. EEE operated as a mission agency that focused solely on the Balkan Countries of Eastern Europe. God blessed EEE in many ways. Several missionary families were sent to Macedonia, Romania, Greece, and Albania. Dr. Mullendore was able to secure an open ended registration for the ministry in Macedonia that can still be used to gain entrance into the country today. Today we have a national family in place in Shutka, Skopije, Macedonia and we are thrilled about what God is doing there after all these years of work and sacrifice.

The Lord allowed the ministry to purchase a building located in Johnson City, Tennessee in the spring of 2002. The mission was growing, more missionaries were partnering with EEE, and the church office was no longer able to hold everything needed for the daily operation of the agency. A building was purchased and renovations began immediately. It took a lot of effort to turn an old gas station and convenience store into a working mission office. The building was officially dedicated in July 2003. The building has three offices, a spacious conference room, plenty of storage, and a fully furnished, two bedroom missions apartment. This is a great gift from God. On the 15th anniversary of the original building dedication, the office was officially named the “Mullendore Mission Office” in recognition of the work and sacrifice of Dr. Jerry & Christine Mullendore.

In 2006, under the leadership of Dr. Mullendore, the Advisory Council unanimously voted to expand the ministry of EEE to partner with missionaries that were called to serve outside of Eastern Europe. This expansion required a new name. Evangelization in Eastern Europe became Beacon Int’l Baptist Mission. BIBM continues to experience the blessings of God. BIBM has expanded into many countries outside of Eastern Europe.

The Lord called Dr. Mullendore home in November 2016. In January 2017, Missionary Adam Crabtree replaced the late Dr. Mullendore as the Executive Director. Under his leadership, the BIBM missionary family continues to expand worldwide.

Meet The Crabtree Family

Adam recognized his need for a Savior at church camp in Miamisburg, OH at the age of fourteen and surrendered his life to full time missionary service three years later. During his freshman year of college, he answered the call to serve in Greece after hearing about the need and available opportunities. He enjoys playing golf, reading, spending time with his family, playing fantasy football, eating ethnic cuisine, and drinking a good cup of coffee. He holds a B.A. in Missions & Bible, a Th.M., and is pursuing a Th.D. You can email Adam at AdamNCrabtree@Gmail.com.

Brandie is a “pk”. Her father, Dr. Jerry Mullendore, planted and pastored Eastside Baptist Church in Greeneville, TN. In 1995, Dr. Mullendore surrendered to the call of missions and started BIBM. Brandie has spent most of her life in full-time ministry. She accepted Christ as her savior as a teenager. In the fall of 1997, Brandie surrendered her life to missionary service. She enjoys reading, traveling, teaching, shopping, cooking, and spending time with her family. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education. You can email Brandie at BrandieCrabtree@Gmail.com.

Adam and Brandie were married on August 5, 1999. They have three daughters named Emily, Adalyn, and Abigail.

The Crabtree family has more than 20 years’ experience in missions. They served in Piraeus, Greece for five years and in Queens, NYC for nine years before replacing the late Dr. Jerry Mullendore in 2017. The Crabtree’s now lead the global ministry of BIBM and are directly involved in evangelism, discipleship, planting indigenous churches, Beacon Bible Institute, Deputation Training for Excellence, ongoing missionary care, recruiting new missionary families, surveying new mission fields, furlough relief, and leading the daily office operations.

The Crabtree family is available for missions conferences, missions revivals, special missions emphasis days, missions trips, local church meetings, social engagements with small groups, and school projects.

What We Believe

BIBM is an Independent Baptist missions agency by conviction. All BIBM missionaries are sent by an Independent Baptist church and are to only seek partnerships with ministries of like faith and practice. The following paragraphs simply summarize what we believe. We believe the Bible and teach it to be perfectly true. Every belief flows from God’s Word.

The Bible
We believe the Bible to be the revealed Word of God, fully and verbally inspired of God. We believe the Scriptures to be the inerrant, infallible Word of God, as found within the sixty-six books from Genesis to Revelation. We believe God not only inspired every word, but has preserved them through the ages. We believe the King James Version is the preserved Word of God for the English-speaking people. For other languages, we accept and use translations of the Masoretic Text of the Old Testament and the Received Text of the New Testament (Textus Receptus) (Psalm 12:6-7; II Timothy 3:15-17; I Peter 1:23-25; II Peter 1:19-21).

God
We believe in one God, who is eternal, self-existent, infinite, and immutable. We believe He has one nature, one essence, and one substance, yet manifests Himself to man in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; I Timothy 1:17; James 1:17; I John 4:4).

Son
We believe Jesus Christ to be the one and only Saviour of mankind. We believe Jesus Christ to be eternally God and to possess all the attributes of Deity. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was virgin born, that He was God incarnate, and that the purposes of the incarnation were to reveal God, to redeem men, and to rule over God’s kingdom. We believe Jesus Christ never relinquished any attributes of His Deity, but merely veiled them. We believe He lived a perfect, sinless life, at the end of which He was offered for all mankind as a substitutionary sacrifice for man’s sin. This sacrifice was a just payment to God for the forgiveness of sin. It was activated by His death through the shedding of His blood on the Cross and was accepted by God upon His resurrection. We believe He ascended into Heaven after His resurrection to be seated at the right hand of the Father, waiting for the time of receiving His church at the Rapture, and returning seven years later to earth to rule and reign as King for 1,000 years (Psalm 2:7-9; Isaiah 7:14,9:6,43:11; Micah 5:2; Matthew 1:25; Luke 1:26-35; John 1:1,1:3,14,18,29; Romans 3:19-25; Romans 5:6-15; Philippians 2:5-11; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; I Timothy 2:5; I Timothy 3:16; Titus 2:10-15; Hebrews 7:26,9:24-28; I Peter 1:19,2:2; I John 1:3; Revelation 20:1-6).

The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit of God is a person who has personality and all the attributes of Deity. We believe the Holy Spirit has always been involved in the affairs of mankind. However, we believe He has a special ministry which began at Pentecost and will continue until the Rapture. This ministry includes convicting the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. The Holy Spirit was also sent to regenerate, sanctify, seal, and fill all who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ (John 3:5-6; John 14:16; Acts 1:5; Acts 11:15; I Corinthians 3:16; I Corinthians 6:19-20; I Corinthians 12:13).

Sin and Salvation
We believe all men were born with an inherited sin nature received from our common ancestor, Adam. We believe that because of his nature, man is a sinner by choice, and he is totally incapable of reforming himself or ceasing from his sin by his own power. We believe the only hope of deliverance for man is a total change of mind concerning his sinful condition and inability to change it, and a turning to Jesus Christ as the only Saviour. We believe that only through the substitutionary sacrifice of Christ on the Cross can a man be delivered from his sin. We believe that all those who reject Jesus Christ as their Saviour are already condemned to an eternity in the Lake of Fire (Genesis 5:1-5; Acts 4:19; Acts 16:31; Romans 3:10-23; Romans 5:6-12; Romans 6:23; Romans 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-6; Revelation 20:11-14).

The New Testament Church
We believe the church began with the calling out of the twelve apostles by Jesus Christ and was empowered on the day of Pentecost. We believe the local church is God’s only institution to carry out His work today. We believe the local church is composed of members who have been saved and baptized, according to the command of Christ, and have voluntarily united together for the purposes of worship, fellowship, service, and the Lord’s Table. We believe all true believers will be taken up at the Rapture, just prior to the Tribulation (Matthew 16:16-18; Acts 1:15; Acts 2:41-43; Acts 11:15; Acts 20:28; I Corinthians 15: 51-58; Ephesians 1:12-14; Ephesians 5:25-30; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; I Timothy 3:4-15).

The Last Days
We believe in the literal interpretation of the Scriptures in their grammatical and historical context. We believe in the pre-tribulational Rapture of the church saints, followed by the seven-year Tribulation. We believe in the pre-millennial return of Christ to the earth and His literal rule of one thousand years. Following this one thousand years is the Great White Throne judgment and then the new Heaven and new earth (I Corinthians 15:51-58; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; I Thessalonians 5:1-9; Revelation 19-22).
